At the Collision Reporting Centre
Every collision reporting centre in Ontario has its own procedures, depending on the city or region. Here’s what you can expect in different areas:
York Region
In York Region, you will be greeted by an officer at the collision reporting centre who will inspect your vehicle and document the damage for the accident report. The entire process generally takes about 30 minutes. We were informed that officers in some cases dont even come out to look and take photos of your vehicle. If you arrive with a tow truck, the driver will wait for you and transport your vehicle to your desired location once the report is complete. Be sure to have all necessary documentation, including:

In Toronto and certain other cities, collision reporting centres are often managed by Accident Support Services International Ltd. (ASSI). The process differs slightly:
- After vehicle inspection by an ASSI employ, Not an officer.
- The tow truck driver can then take your vehicle directly to the tow yard or to your preferred bodyshop.
- You will then complete the accident report with the assistance of an ASSI representative.
This process typically takes between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on the volume of cases.
